We’re hiring a hands-on Controller to serve as the Senior Financial Leader for the Market Garden Brewery campus — a fast-moving hospitality and beverage manufacturing business with a multi-unit restaurant group and a growing production brewery. This is not a back-office reporting role. We want someone who owns financial stewardship, builds real control systems, and partners directly with ownership, managers, chefs, & operators to drive measurable improvement in margins and decision-making.

Why this role exists We have the people and the opportunity — what we need is the financial quarterback who installs repeatable systems so the team can execute consistently. The opportunity is in the “pennies and dimes”: labor discipline, purchasing controls, COGS accuracy, vendor leverage, and below-the-line spend.

What you’ll do

(restaurant-first, campus-wide)

  • Restaurant group (first 6 months):
    • Build/own weekly financial visibility (Flash P&L cadence) so leaders can manage in real time
    • Develop and enforce labor models by concept and service period (scheduled vs. actual)
    • Drive COGS control (food, beverage, supplies) through purchasing discipline, invoice accuracy, and inventory integrity systems for chefs & managers
    • Establish purchasing guardrails and lead vendor pricing reviews / renegotiations
    • Identify and reduce below-the-line expense leakage (contracts, services, recurring spend)
    • Create simple dashboards team members actually use.
  • Brewery / beverage manufacturing (parallel focus):
    • Partner with brewery leadership to understand true cost drivers across brewing, packaging, materials, and logistics
    • Support margin analysis across SKUs, formats, and channels
    • Translate manufacturing financial data into actionable decisions

What you’ll own (authority + accountability)

  • Lead the accounting and financial control function across the campus
  • Direct oversight of AP, purchasing controls, payroll accuracy, and financial compliance
  • Improve and professionalize bookkeeping/administrative workflows (simplify, automate, and modernize over time)
  • Coordinate with internal and external accounting/month-end support where appropriate while building stronger internal ownership
What success looks like
  • First 90 days
    • You understand how money truly flows through the campus
    • Weekly reporting becomes reliable and usable
    • Clear list of labor/COGS/purchasing gaps with an execution plan
    • Early wins in visibility, accuracy, and control
  • First 180 days
    • Labor + COGS controls are operating consistently
    • Purchasing discipline is established and enforced
    • Real reduction in uncontrolled below-the-line spend
    • Dashboards and review cadence are embedded into how we operate

Who succeeds here
This role is ideal for a hands-on Controller or Senior Accounting Manager who:

  • Has strong experience in cost accounting, inventory, manufacturing, distribution, hospitality, or multi-unit operations
  • Is comfortable without a big staff and enjoys doing the work
  • Thinks like an owner: practical, direct, curious, and accountable
  • Can coach and drive adoption with chefs/managers (not just produce reports)
What this role is not
  • Not bookkeeping-only
  • Not passive reporting
  • Not a corporate controller role with layers of staff

This is a working Controller / senior financial leadership role with real authority and real impact.
