Role DescriptionIn a strategic move to expand our logistics capabilities, we are seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to
serve as our Vice President of Customs Brokerage and Compliance.
This is a full-time, on-site role for the Vice President of Customs Brokerage and Compliance, based in Garfield Heights, OH. The individual in this role will act as the Corporate Qualifying Officer to lead our application for a corporate customs broker license and national permit with CBP. The candidate must hold a valid individual customs broker license issued by CBP and will be responsible for exercising supervision and control over the company's customs business and compliance.
The individual in this role will implement and oversee operations related to customs brokerage and compliance while driving strategic initiatives to enhance client satisfaction and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include managing brokerage activities, supervising a team, collaborating with the sales division to support new business opportunities, and ensuring strict adherence to compliance regulations. The role also involves fostering strategic partnerships and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the freight and logistics sectors.
Roleand Responsibilities
- Responsible for implementing and overseeing all customs brokerage processes and operations.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with all import/export activities and strictly adhere to applicable trade regulations.
- Manage and train staff in entry procedures, documentation, and compliance standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for CBP.
- Stay current with developments and changes in regulations and other government requirements.
- Develop strategies for client acquisition and retention.
- Responsible for correctly classifying and determining customs duties and fees.
- Position is expected to handle ISF, classification, entry processing, issue and follow up on Delivery Orders, handle customs exams, communicate timely and consistently with clients, and invoice files until closed.
- Collaborate with air and ocean operations team on shipments and quotations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Attend and participate in monthly board meetings.
- Must hold a valid, individual customs broker license issued by CBP.

Experience:
5+ years of experience in customs brokerage with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role. - Familiarization with PGA regulations such as FDA, FCC, USDA, DCMA and BATF.
- Strong analytical skills with a systematic problem-solving approach.
- Extensive knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and valuation.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Strong background in client relationship management.
- Knowledge of Freight handling and Transportation Logistics.
- Strategic leadership abilities with a focus on driving growth and operational efficiency
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
- Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background check.
- Salary $100,000-$115,000 annually, depending on experience
