Construction Area Manager

• Plan and direct construction activities in the field, either directly or through Project Managers, General Superintendents, and Superintendents.
• Set build times for each plan and provide schedules to meet them.
• Maintain the profitability of the homes being built by managing costs and reviewing field purchase orders.
• Provide training, communication, and development for Project Managers, General Superintendents, Superintendents, and field personnel.
• Oversee field operations, production times, and quality control to ensure homes meet company standards and are ready for homeowner orientation/occupancy.
• Ensure all homes are constructed to contract, specification, and detail; all invoiced work is acceptable to company specifications and 100% complete.
• Ensure assigned communities meet OSHA and state safety standards.
• Visit job sites to check quality and enforce policies.
• Interface with public agencies, municipal bodies, utilities, and industry associations to obtain permits and approvals.
• Assist other Construction Area Managers.
• Handle escalated problems with subcontractors.
• Respond to unsatisfactory survey cards for construction and customer service to direct quality improvement efforts.
• Conduct all business professionally and ethically to serve customers and increase company goodwill and profit.
• Travel overnight as required.

• Supervises two or more employees.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Seven years of related experience and/or training.
• Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
• High degree of construction knowledge and management skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
• General knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations, and building codes.
• Ability to converse with customers, all levels of management, and personnel.
• Superb interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction.
• Ability to control cost overruns and manage a budget.
• Ability to utilize DRH Construction applications on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
• Proficiency with MS Office and email.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.
• Experience working effectively in a high‑pressure, high‑production environment.
• English/Spanish bilingual skills a plus.
