Construction Estimator – Ohio (Cleveland)
Firewatch Contracting of Florida LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support our growing Federal Government construction operations.
Our projects include renovation, modernization, and new construction work for federal agencies. The role involves independently managing project bids, developing subcontractor relationships, and contributing to a collaborative preconstruction process.
What You’ll Do- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for renovation and new construction projects
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, bid documents, and RFPs
- Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis
- Solicit and level subcontractor and vendor proposals
- Identify scope gaps, overlaps, exclusions, and risk items
- Assist in proposal preparation, technical narratives, schedules, and bid packages
- Coordinate with project management and operations teams during project turnover
- Participate in subcontractor buyout activities after project award
- Manage multiple active bids and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial or government construction
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bidding processes
- Experience with subcontractor/vendor procurement and scope review
- Ability to independently manage estimates from bid review through submission
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Experience with Federal Government contracting
- Experience with estimating tools such as RSMeans, Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar software
- Familiarity with scheduling software including Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
- Construction-related degree or equivalent field experience
- Experience preparing technical proposal narratives and schedules
- Competitive salary range of $80,000–$110,000 depending on experience

This position works closely with the Vice President and project teams and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision in a fast-paced office environment.
