We are recruiting on behalf of an award-winning commercial general contractor in Columbus, Ohio, who are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Estimator to join their growing preconstruction team. With a strong reputation across the Midwest, this contractor delivers diverse projects in retail, mixed-use, education, healthcare, automotive dealerships, and office developments.
The Role
As a Commercial Estimator, you will play a key role in shaping the success of high-value projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Preparing detailed take-offs and pricing for commercial construction scopes.
- Coordinating with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients throughout the preconstruction phase.
- Obtaining competitive bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Supporting value engineering exercises and risk analysis.
- Presenting bid proposals and participating in client negotiations.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
- Proven track record delivering estimates for projects ranging from $1M–$50M+.
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and building systems.
- Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
