Overview

The Metro Health Department of Surgery is seeking full-time, academic faculty members at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level to join our Division of Urology. The Division of Urology provides a comprehensive spectrum of urological care, including reconstructive urology, men's health, oncology, and endourology. Applicants should possess excellent clinical skills, promote collaboration in multidisciplinary patient care, and express a strong commitment to medical student and resident education as part of our integrated urology residency training program.

The qualified applicant must hold an MD or DO degree and be board certified or board eligible in urology. Active interest in clinical or translation research is encouraged but not required. The successful candidate will have an appointment to the medical faculty of the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Final rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidates qualifications and experience.

The Metro Health System was founded in 1837 to serve the residents of Cleveland, Ohio and Cuyahoga County. It is a non-profit, mission-driven institution with 3 hospitals, more than 20 health centers, and 40 additional sites across the county, and is the key public hospital teaching site for Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Metro Health is a nationally recognized academic and tertiary referral medical center, with an American College of Surgeons-verified Level I adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma center, as well as busy advanced robotic and endoscopic surgery practices.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive urologic care for adult patients, including diagnosis and management of urinary tract and male reproductive system disorders.
  • Perform a full spectrum of urologic procedures, including:
    • Endoscopic procedures (cystoscopy, ureteroscopy)
    • Stone management (laser lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy)
    • Prostate interventions (TURP, MIST therapies)
    • Basic oncology surgeries (TURBT, prostate biopsy, surgical management of bladder, kidney, and prostate cancer)
    • Minimally invasive and laparoscopic techniques including opportunities for robotic surgery (DaVinci XI and SP robots available); robotic surgery experience preferred
  • Participate in inpatient consultations and outpatient clinics.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical and surgical settings.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including clinical research and publications.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives in quality improvement and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Urology.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Ohio.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine, education, and research.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first approach.
