The Metro Health System is redefining health care by going beyond medical treatment to improve the foundations of community health and well-being: affordable housing, a cleaner environment, economic opportunity and access to fresh food, convenient transportation, legal help and other services. The system strives to become as good at preventing disease as it is at treating it. Founded in 1837, Cuyahoga County’s safety-net health system operates four hospitals, four emergency departments and more than 20 health centers.

The Metro Health System is seeking a Medical Director to lead the provider team and clinical direction of the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center Medical Services that Metro Health provides for the Cuyahoga County Jail System. The Medical Director shall be a licensed physician in the State of Ohio and will serve as the responsible physician for the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center Health Services Program.

The Medical Director will provide clinical oversight of all medical and psychiatric services, develop programs that support reduced recidivism, and provide pharmacy licensure and medication practice review. The Medical Director will work collaboratively with Metro Health leadership, County Correctional leadership, clinical and support staff on identifying opportunities for new or revised processes to ensure access, performance improvement, as well as development of an effective, high quality, skilled and motivated workforce.

Ensures that medical care within the correctional facility meets NCCHC accreditation standards and other corrections regulations. The Medical Director will uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Metro Health System.

Interested candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, non-restricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio, board certification or board eligibility in adult primary care or emergency medicine, federal DEA registration number, current basic life support certification from the AHA, and ability to meet specific credential and privileging requirements to be determined by Metro Health. Experience with or certification of Correctional Healthcare preferred.
