Work Schedule: Saturdays 10am to 4pm and additional after school days (4pm to 7pm)

Summary: Provide instruction in the fundamentals of playing the musical instrument, including posture, note reading, rhythm, technical competency, and interpretation. This position is grant-funded.

• Provide instruction and assign repertoire that matches the level of each individual student.
• Develop and present a curriculum that provides students with an experience in the art form that is age appropriate, and challenges students to achieve at the highest level.
• Present a culminating event representing the quality of work undertaken over the course of the semester.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree on the instrument that will be taught and/or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for integrating students with varying stages of musical development
• Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
• Advanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skills
• Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population
• Proven background in providing dynamic instruction with the ability to integrate industry, professional, and life experiences into a classroom learning environment in either large or small groups

• Prior instructional experience

The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; the work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. Typical duties may involve sitting, computer use, and occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items. Travel to meetings and conferences may be required.

This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $42.00/ hour.

If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure.
