Overview
The Cleveland State University College of Law invites applications for two 12-month positions as Clinical Professors of Law, at an entry level or a lateral level, beginning July 1, 2026. The positions begin with annual appointments and, upon successful completion of five annual appointments, are followed by presumptively renewable five-year contracts.
Areas of interestFor the first position: criminal prosecution, trial advocacy, criminal procedure, and criminal law.
For the second position: not restricted to any specific subject but applicants must be willing to teach in both the Juris Doctor Online program and the in-person program.
DutiesTeaching and supervising students’ clinical work, supervising and teaching in the externship program, and serving on law school and university committees. Duties may also include teaching other courses as appropriate to the candidate’s interest and the college’s needs.

Minimum Qualifications- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- License to practice in Ohio or immediate eligibility for temporary certification to practice under Ohio Rule for the Government of the Bar IX, and willingness to seek permanent licensure
- A minimum of five years of practice experience
- A distinguished academic record
- Evidence of potential for significant teaching ability
- Outstanding academic record including law review or other honors
- The ability to contribute through teaching or service to the intellectual and academic excellence of the university community
- For the first position, at least five years of criminal prosecution experience
