Position Overview
The Learning & Development Director oversees the training and development experience for Ameri Corps members, manages data evaluation and impact analytics, builds strategic relationships with district partners, and leads the instructional coaching staff.
Responsibilities- Training Program:
- Execute all training for Ameri Corps members, including Pre‑Service Training (3 weeks in July‑August), Mid‑Year Summit (January), and ongoing webinars and workshops throughout the year.
- Develop a comprehensive learning and development program tailored for high‑school and college graduates.
- Provide targeted workshops to support implementation of whole‑school supports and student academic interventions.
- Identify training needs in partnership with Impact staff and assess them on an ongoing basis.
- Coordinate leadership development training and serve as site point for the LACY program, Idealist Journey, and Justice Talking.
- Data Evaluation:
- Lead all evaluation efforts, oversee tools and resources, and ensure collection and analysis deadlines are met.
- Coordinate data collection with individual schools and the Cleveland City School District, managing the city schoolhouse database (cyschoolhouse).
- Analyze student‑level data and survey data to assess program impact.
- Use data strategically to inform service delivery, learning, and development, ensuring corps members meet City Year standards.
- Participate in national Impact Team calls to share results and best practices.
- Program & Service Operations:
- Assist with all Ameri Corps member operational aspects of the Impact department.
- Coordinate training needs with the Cleveland Impact team and facilitate staff professional development.
- External Relations:
- Identify and secure external trainers and speakers within the Cleveland area.
- Develop and manage relationships with external speakers and trainers.
- Organizational Involvement:
- Devote up to ten (10) days a year to corps member recruitment interviews.
- Attend and help mobilize the team for whole site events such as Opening Day, MLK Day, Annual Fundraiser Gala, Graduation, and other site‑wide events.
- Participate in network‑wide meetings and calls, providing insights and feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred background in education or teaching.
- City Year/Ameri Corps experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of educational systems and youth development.
- Training experience in the education, non‑profit, or corporate sector.
- Ability to design interactive trainings with practical outcomes for adult learners.
- Experience coaching young people and working with diverse populations.
- Commitment to and experience with community service, national service, and/or the development of young people as leaders.
- Ability to analyze data to identify trends, cause‑effect relationships, and opportunities for improvement.
- Thrives in a youthful, high‑energy, entrepreneurial, and fast‑changing environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, partnership‑building, and event planning skills.
- Proven management capabilities, ability to work on a team, and attention to detail.
