Description:
We are looking for an intervention Specialist to assist us with designing and implementing individualized programs for children with special educational and social adjustment needs. The intervention specialist will consider demographic factors, developmental level, and health status when making recommendations. You will create and maintain records of progress, and collaborate with parents to refer children to psychologists and other therapists. In addition to teaching the appropriate course of study following the state standards for each subject area using a variety of instructional techniques that meet individual learning styles.

Essential Job Functions:
- Provide services and accommodations to students identified with a disability
- Assist in coordinating the special education program for all students with disabilities in the school district
- Assist in implementation of federal law and Ohio rules for educating students with disabilities
- Administer contract services for children
- Implement and document data for individual student IEP's
- Develop IEP's for children; assist in scheduling IEP conferences
- Provide classroom teachers with resource information
- Coordinate activities between the school district and outside agencies
- Work with regular classroom teachers co-teaching in an inclusion setting
- Prepare local, state and federal reports relative to areas of special education and pupil personnel services
- Serve as a member of IAT and IEP teams as required
- Attend IEP conferences
- Consult with regular education teacher concerning modifications, adaptations or alternate assignments in regular education classroom for special education students
- Ensure record keeping tasks and individual records of all children recommended to receive special education services or those enrolled in special education entitled to a free appropriate public education
- Remain in compliance with dates required
- Analyze data to create and implement behavior intervention plans
- Adhere to rules and regulations regarding programs that relate to special education
- Utilize RtI to meet the needs of all students
- Evaluate test scores to monitor progress of students
- Compile and maintain an accurate inventory of special education materials
- Represent the district at local, state and regional activities/committees as agreed to
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student IEP's, testing information, student and staff information
- Ensure that the IEP goals/objectives for students are met
- Facilitate communication with families and staff
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners
- Implement strategies to accomplish individualized program goals
- Consult with regular classroom teacher concerning placement of potential students
- Adapt curriculum and provide alternative teaching techniques and assessments to best enhance student learning
- Maintain and improve professional competence by attending professional seminars, workshops, etc. to keep current on relevant issues
- Support school, enforce school rules and policies
- Participate on building level teams and/or teacher based teams and/or district level "teams"
- Organize various subject specific programs within assigned building
- Work closely with administrators as part of development teams to discuss and implement new practices such as "team" teaching, semester projects, etc.
- Act as department chairperson when requested and agreed upon
- Serve as a role model for students
- Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other instructional materials
- Serve on committees and co-curricular activities as agreed upon
