Job DescriptionProvide instruction in the fundamentals of playing the musical instrument, including posture, note reading, rhythm, technical competency, and interpretation. This position is grant-funded.

Essential Functions- Responsible for providing instruction and assigning repertoire that matches the level of each individual student.
- Develop and present a curriculum that provides students with an experience in the art form that is age appropriate, and challenges students to achieve at the highest level.
- Present a culminating event representing the quality of work undertaken over the course of the semester.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience / Training
- Bachelor’s Degree on the instrument that will be taught and/or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for integrating students with varying stages of musical development.
- Ability to assess and grade the progress of students.
- Advanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skills.
- Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population.
- Proven background in providing dynamic instruction with the ability to integrate industry, professional, and life experiences into a classroom learning environment in either large or small groups.

Preferred QualificationsEducation and Experience / Training
- Prior instructional experience.
The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; the work area is adequately lit, heated and ventilated; typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.

Note:
This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $42.00 per hour.
Residency Requirement: If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure.
