The East Cleveland City School District academic improvement plan focuses on three areas:
Instructional Excellence, Supportive Environments and Community Engagement. This plan is set to serve as a guiding force to the work ahead to ensure our students are college and career ready, that we are meeting and exceeding benchmarks for our students and staff and that we are open and transparent in the work taking place.
This plan is the result of community meetings, listening sessions with students, parents and community, as well as input from district and community leaders and was approved at our regular Board of Education meeting on September 13, 2021. Because parents are crucial to the reaching of our goals, benchmarks, and initiatives, the District is excited to partner with parents as we attain the next level in education.
East Cleveland City School District is looking for parents/guardians that have a child/children in one East Cleveland City School to share important information about our schools with the community. Parents/ guardians who are involved with the school, excited about the growth of the District, connected to the community and looking to establish and build relationships are our ideal candidates. The Parent Ambassador program helps increase the district's capacity to build a community of leaders that will support outreach to parents and families.
He/she is dedicated to improving the goals, strategies and programming of the District.
- Must be a current East Cleveland City School District parent or legal guardian, not a current staff member
- Attend mandatory training
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and have basic computer skills
- Must commit to 1 semester
- Ability to plan and collaborate with staff, families, and community members
- Community-oriented with a commitment to providing service to others
- The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience
- Active listening and empathy with others when issues are highlighted
- Maintains high standards of confidentiality and the ability to model positive behavior
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must pass BCI/FBI background check
- Provide welcome and connection for new families
- Interact with other parents, families, and the community through a variety of methods (in person, via phone, email, and social media)
- Assist families and community members with questions and refer to correct source within the school district
- Work with Parent Empowerment Center staff, and/or Family/Parent Liaisons to create programming and resources
- Provide outreach to families to participate in family engagement programs and activities
- Promote East Cleveland City School District to new families
- Work with district administrators to arrange virtual or in-person tours to schools
- Support and attend family programs and activities
- Attend community fairs and activities with East Cleveland staff, including possible weekend events, volunteer at school events and functions, if needed
- Share parent engagement experiences, including successes and recommendations for improvements
- Can be hybrid in person and virtual
- Expected moving, bending, walking, and standing consistent with an office environment and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- The employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a normal office environment
- Local travel may be required for training/meetings
Salary
School Year Part-time through June 30, 2027
Hourly Rate: $25 (10-20 hours per week)
