Performing Arts Roles/ Dance Instructor
Instructor, Dance
Provides instruction in the foundation of dance, including posture, choreography, rhythm, technical competency and interpretation.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and present curriculum that provides students with an experience in the art form that is age appropriate and challenges students to achieve at the highest level
- Work with students from diverse backgrounds to educate and improve skills
- Assess student's progress by grading assignments
- Organize and present a culminating event that represents the quality of work undertaken over the course of the semester
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and/or modify curriculum as needed to meet changing industry trends and college initiatives
Required Qualifications Education and Experience/Training:
- Degree in dance and/or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of effective strategies for integrating students with varying stages of dance development
- Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Experience in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to determine needs of students and identify solutions
- Ability to be creative and exercise initiative
- Possess working knowledge of fundamental dance concepts practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
- Possess basic-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software
- Ability to organize, work and set priorities within a general structure
- Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations
- Possess strong organizational and time-management skills
- Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

- Bachelor's degree

Physical Demands/
Working Conditions:
- The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
- The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
- Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite

Note:
This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $42.00/ hour.
If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure.
