JOB SUMMARY

Instructors provide high‑quality instruction that supports student learning and fosters a positive learning environment in the classroom. The primary responsibility is teaching and evaluating students in assigned courses. Instruction is delivered on‑site throughout the college’s five‑county service area and may also be offered through online teaching formats. Instructors communicate with students outside of class and perform a variety of administrative duties, including committee work, assessment, registration, and advising.

The Social Work Program Coordinator role builds upon these instructional responsibilities by contributing to the academic excellence and institutional success of Cleveland State Community College through leadership in social work education. This includes providing high‑quality instruction, student advising, and ongoing program development. The coordinator ensures alignment with CSWE (Council on Social Work Education) standards and core social work competencies, supports community partners and field supervisors, and strengthens pathways that support student transfer and matriculation into BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) programs.

MINIMUM

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Work with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in qualifying coursework.
  • Valid driver’s license.

The educational requirements listed for this position reflect the qualifications for the rank of Instructor. An appointee may be appointed at a higher academic rank provided the individual meets the minimum education and experience requirements established by the Tennessee Board of Regents, including any future revisions to those requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Plan and teach classes as assigned in accordance with course descriptions, course syllabi, departmental guidelines, and approved instructional formats, including on‑site instruction throughout the college’s five‑county service area and online delivery as applicable.
  • Fulfill all instructional requirements required by Cleveland State Community College and the Tennessee Board of Regents (T ).
  • Remain current in the instructional field and in effective teaching methodologies.
  • Devote a minimum of 37.5 hours per week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hours, and obtain approval for any commitments that may affect employment responsibilities.
  • Be accessible to students for advising, academic assistance, and support based on the instructional format.
