Job Summary
- Responsible for maintaining a caseload of students who are participating in the "Say Yes to Education Cleveland" program, first-generation college students or students experiencing academic difficulty. Coaches encourage achievement of goals through self-assessment, reflection and connection to campus and community resources with a goal of graduation. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. Three (3) years of experience in advising, mentoring, tutoring, student programming or student services in an educational or programming setting. Experience working with student population and recruitment efforts. Experience using an early alert/advising system powered by predictive analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree, preferably in student personnel services, adult learning and development, counseling, guidance, education, or a related field of study.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) - Ability to creatively motivate, empower, and recognize students. Ability to increase retention and graduation rates. Skilled in effective intervention programs and early outreach plans for students. Working knowledge of student development, education policies, and trends. Proficient in written and verbal communication skills, the ability to make effective presentations, have strong public speaking skills, develop, and drive change and effectively communicate change.
Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective team player, in addition to being self-directed, and forward-thinking. Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders when issues arise to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective resolution plans. Skilled in problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence, and persuasion. Detail-oriented and capable of managing large amounts of data, maintaining detailed, comprehensive records, analyzing and organizing information, and having time management skills.
Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a "Customer Focus" attitude and delivery. Knowledge of working with integrated software systems as an end user and utilizing social networking communications. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint. Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
