Job purpose Build the knowledge and skills capacity of Ohio professionals working in early learning settings by working locally and coordinating regionally and statewide to provide Early Childhood Mental Health trainings and staff development as put forth by the OMHAS Whole Child Matters ECMH Grant.

Duties and responsibilities

• Align practice and work with the agency mission, vision, guiding principles, trauma-informed care, the Neurosequential Model and the Re-ED philosophy.
• Support DCY's ECMH service capacity‑building objective by providing trainings and communities of practice for ECMH professionals with the goal of helping them to obtain the ECMH Consultation Credential and the Ohio Infant Mental Health Credential.
• Provide Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) and Ohio Approved training sessions, which will a) support providers in earning their stars in the SUTQ system and b) support professionals in acquiring or renewing their ECMH Professional Credential.
• As requested and appropriate, provide follow‑up technical assistance consultations to eligible early learning/care sites to assist them in the adoption or application of the trainings delivered in their unique settings.
• Disseminate written materials from DCY as requested by DCY.
• Participate in the activities as requested by DCY, including attending meetings and trainings as scheduled throughout the state, delivering trainings, submitting proposals at various statewide early childhood conferences and gatherings, and creating SUTQ trainings.
• Effectively collaborate with other local early childhood system of care partners.
• Data entry and scheduling of trainings using the OCCRRA data base.
• Provide timely and accurate data and reports as requested per DCY grant activities.
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, reporting activities, and data entry in a timely manner in accordance with PEP policy and procedures. An understanding of training methods which are specific to adult learners and have the ability to relate to professionals and paraprofessionals in the EC work force.
• Have deep knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for children birth to six.
• Understand the principles and practices of the Conscious Discipline model.
• Participate in PEP staff development activities, team meetings, and staff meetings as scheduled or assigned.
• Participate (and pass requirements where applicable) in all required trainings including, but not limited to First Aid, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Standards of Practice.
• As a representative of the agency and profession, present self with decorum and in dress that is appropriate to the day's activities.
• Adhere to PEP and ESC policies and procedures.

• Master's Degree required.
• Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work license (PC, PCC or SW, ISW). Preferred. Will consider M.Ed with related Mental Health experience.
• Must hold or be willing to obtain the ECMH Professional Credential and the Ohio Infant Mental Health credential preferably Level 3.
• 3-5 years (minimum) experience working with young children with behavior and social/emotional problems.
• Communicate accurately and effectively, both written and orally.
• Demonstrate effective decision‑making, consultation, and presentation skills.
• Utilize good judgment under routine and stressful work conditions.
• Willingness to travel for state sponsored conferences, meetings and retreats.
• Superior time management skills and attention to details.
• Work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively with others.
• Ability to use Zoom or other video conferencing modalities to attend meetings and facilitate trainings.

• Ability to use a computer and keyboard (eye‑hand coordination and repetitive movements related to keyboarding).
• Ability to move around the classroom/center/community and sit and stand for more than an hour at a time.
• Ability to visually and auditorily assess and monitor the mental health status of students for safety purposes.
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle using an Ohio Driver's License.
