Special Education Teacher
Location: Cleveland, OH
Start Date: August 10, 2026
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–3:15 PM (37.5 hours/week)
Duration: 1-Year Assignment
Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality educational services to students with special needs. This role includes participation in planning and implementing individualized programs, providing specialized instruction, and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to support student success.
Available Assignments
Bridges Program – Transition (2 Openings)- Caseload of approximately 7 students
- Cross-categorical classroom model
- Students with physical disabilities and moderate-to-severe behaviors
- Focus on functional independence, life skills, vocational training, and transition beyond the educational system
- Students participate in an on-site gift shop/store to build real-world skills
- Caseload of approximately 6 students
- Autism-focused classroom environment
- Highly supportive team-based approach
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized instruction based on IEP goals
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans
- Monitor and document student progress
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, behavioral specialists, and families
- Support students' academic, behavioral, social, and life skills development
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and program planning
Support & Classroom Environment
- Small classroom sizes (6–8 students Amergisum)
- Dedicated Special Education Teacher and Teaching Assistant assigned to each classroom
- Additional paraprofessional support available
- Collaborative support from:
Speech-Language Pathologists, BCBAs, Social Workers, Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Registered Behavior Technicians
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred
- Valid state teaching certification required
- Special Education certification preferred
- Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
- Minimum one year of teaching experience preferred
- Current CPR certification if applicable
- Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
Compensation
Local Candidates
- $60/hour
- Estimated weekly gross: $2,250
Travel Candidates
- Competitive travel package available
