The Teacher works in a personalized instructional environment, collaborating with students and parents to develop and evaluate individualized academic plans. The role supports student retention and academic success, reporting to the Principal or designee.
Responsibilities- Teach using approved curriculum and assign an individualized course of study to each student.
- Administer assessments to newly enrolled students in Language, Mathematics, and Reading within the first month.
- Monitor and administer testing for all students upon completion of English and Mathematics courses.
- Participate in state and school‑mandated testing.
- Carefully review and evaluate homework.
- Monitor student credit completion.
- Administer, proctor, grade tests, and provide test scores.
- Refer students to a core subject teacher when necessary.
- Document student notes in the Student Information System.
- Record attendance and reporting in the SIS database.
- Conduct close‑out procedures for student folders at the end of the learning period, or when a student drops, withdraws, or graduates.
- Work with Student Relations staff on folder changes and corrections.
- Maintain accurate records as required by the Ohio Department of Education and independent auditors.
- Be available to students and/or parents during appointments.
- Contact students who miss appointments.
- Assist students in finding additional resources when needed.
- Refer students to labs, tutoring, study teams, and counseling as appropriate.
- Discipline students when necessary.
- Keep all student work neat and organized.
- Meet Ohio Professional Teaching Standards.
- Complete yearly academic plans aligned with upcoming state standards.
- Provide a report card after each semester and when a student drops, withdraws, or graduates.
- Participate in developing new and creative curriculum to support student and school needs as assigned by the leader.
- Attend all staff meetings and assigned professional development activities.
- Attend graduation ceremonies and participate in other school events.
- Adhere to attendance policies.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned, noting that responsibilities may change over time.
- Knowledge of Ohio Teaching Standards and understanding of the organization’s culture, services, and products.
- Knowledge of educational trends, research, and technology to support learning.
- Experience with research‑based instructional strategies for all student populations, including at‑risk students.
- Knowledge of a variety of educational programs.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community representatives.
- Ability to work inclusively with all racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups.
- Effective communication skills, including clear instructions, academic language, appropriate delivery, unbiased listening, and constructive feedback.
- Judgmental independence, deadline orientation, and accurate record‑keeping.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Self‑sufficiency, interpersonal strengths, and a focus on excellent customer service.
- Valid teaching license issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Proficiency in Student Information System applications.
- High workflow management, project coordination, and people engagement.
- Finger dexterity for typing and handling small objects.
- Clear speaking ability for detailed instruction.
- Average hearing, capable of normal conversation.
- Average visual acuity for document preparation and inspection.
- Ability to multitask, adjust task priorities, and perform repetitive work.
- Tolerance of low to moderate noise and frequent deadline pressures.
