Position Summary

The General Education Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction to students in a supportive and engaging classroom environment. This role focuses on fostering academic achievement, promoting positive student behavior, and supporting the overall development of each student.

Key Responsibilities Instruction & Planning
  • Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans aligned with state and school curriculum

  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students

  • Incorporate technology and innovative teaching methods into instruction

  • Assess student learning regularly and adjust instruction accordingly

  • Classroom Management
  • Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Set clear expectations for student behavior and consistently enforce them

  • Promote a positive classroom culture that supports student engagement and success

  • Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring
  • Administer formative and summative assessments

  • Track student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Use data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes

  • Prepare report cards and communicate progress to families

  • Student Support
  • Differentiate instruction to support all learners, including those with varying abilities

  • Collaborate with special education staff to implement accommodations and modifications when needed

  • Encourage student growth academically, socially, and emotionally

  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student performance and behavior

  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff

  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events

  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (required)

  • Valid state teaching license/certification (required)

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum standards and instructional best practices

  • Effective classroom management skills

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in an urban or charter school setting

  • Familiarity with data-driven instruction

  • Experience working with diverse student populations
