Position Summary
The General Education Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction to students in a supportive and engaging classroom environment. This role focuses on fostering academic achievement, promoting positive student behavior, and supporting the overall development of each student.
Key Responsibilities Instruction & PlanningDevelop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans aligned with state and school curriculum
Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students
Incorporate technology and innovative teaching methods into instruction
Assess student learning regularly and adjust instruction accordingly
Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
Set clear expectations for student behavior and consistently enforce them
Promote a positive classroom culture that supports student engagement and success
Administer formative and summative assessments
Track student progress and maintain accurate records
Use data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes
Prepare report cards and communicate progress to families
Differentiate instruction to support all learners, including those with varying abilities
Collaborate with special education staff to implement accommodations and modifications when needed
Encourage student growth academically, socially, and emotionally
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student performance and behavior
Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
Adhere to school policies, procedures, and state educational standards
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Engage in continuous professional growth and development
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (required)
Valid state teaching license/certification (required)
Strong knowledge of curriculum standards and instructional best practices
Effective classroom management skills
Experience teaching in an urban or charter school setting
Familiarity with data-driven instruction
Experience working with diverse student populations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Organization and time management
Adaptability and problem-solving abilities
Ability to build positive relationships with students and families
Classroom-based environment
May involve standing, moving around the classroom, and supervising students throughout the day
