Tutor, Math – TRIO Grant
Works directly with students, providing academic tutorial assistance in support of the material taught in mathematics classes.
Supports the department's goal of providing students with supplemental academic support by:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group tutoring
- Developing and implementing non-credit workshops
- Conducting "class visits" and assisting with publicizing services
- Assisting with the maintenance of records
- Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and according to stated deadlines
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of departmental instructional materials
- Performing other duties as assigned
Required qualifications education and training:
- Associate's in a field commensurate with needs of the department.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence of fundamental/advance Mathematic concepts with the ability to apply in various situations
- Ability to explain concepts to others effectively
- Ability to effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success
- Ability to work comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds
- Possess patience and positive attitudes in establishing an encouraging learning environment
- Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere through:

Physical demands/working conditions:
- The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; the work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated; typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
