The Teacher, Home Tutor provides instruction for students unable to attend school due to documented medical needs, pregnancy, or in lieu of expulsion (for students with disabilities), utilizing the CMSD Scope and Sequence and Common Core State Standards.
Assignments may include day, evening, or weekend times; these vary based on family requests. Most assignments are in person and require meeting with the student at the student’s home or a mutually agreed-upon location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
THIS ROLE WILL:
- Provide instruction for students unable to attend school due to documented medical needs, pregnancy, or in lieu of expulsion (for students with disabilities), utilizing the CMSD Scope and Sequence and Common Core State Standards
- Contact the home school principal (K-8) or guidance counselor (high school) for assignments and books based on the student’s enrolled classes. For students with disabilities, an IEP will be included in the case folder for the assigned student.
- Conduct tutoring assignments in a virtual learning environment or at the student's home, with the guardian's permission, collaborating with the family regarding the schedule
- Provide reports and grades on the students’ progress every 4-5 weeks at a minimum, based on the District schedule for interim progress reports and report cards
- For students with disabilities, provide IEP progress monitoring data every 4-5 weeks based on the District schedule for interim progress reports and report cards via an electronically submitted Progress Report provided to the Teacher, Home Tutor by the Home Instruction Office
- Complete electronic daily log for instruction provided to students, which includes date, subject area, amount of time instruction was provided, and the specific focus of the instruction being provided
- Administer State Standardized Testing based on the District assessment calendar (including but not limited to AASCD, OGT, OST, OELPA, end-of-course exams, etc.) for students physically unable to attend a traditional school setting for the tests
- Obtain parent/guardian approval for time worked during each pay period in which time worked is being submitted
- Submit time worked to be processed during the same pay period in which the instruction was provided
- Upon completion of a case, return all materials and books to the principal (K-8) or guidance counselor (high school) so that the student is able to return to school.
- Complete all paperwork and electronic submissions, returning any other materials to the Home Instruction Office.
- Promptly submit grades to the same for entry into the student's record.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate/License in Regular Education or Special Education or valid O.D.E. Pupil Service License (for Related Service Providers)
- Bilingual teachers are encouraged to apply
- Ability to provide both remote/virtual services as well as in-person services when a student is unable to access remote learning environments
