The Training and Quality Improvement Specialist develops and delivers training programs that support professional growth and promote best practices across the Probation Department. This position monitors compliance, conducts quality assurance activities, and provides recommendations to improve services, policies, and operational effectiveness. The Training and Quality Improvement Specialist collaborates with staff, leadership, and community partners to enhance performance, ensure accountability, and support continuous quality improvement.

Training:
Assists Probation Administrators to develop and measure benchmarks for Probation Transformation. Coordinates internal trainings, along with aiding in identifying external trainings applicable to the needs of Juvenile Court employees, specific to improving operations in probation that align with Probation Transformation benchmarks and evidence-based interventions. Prepares for and facilitates training classes for staff refresher training, including reserving room locations, room set-up, and acquiring any requisite equipment, providing registration, training rosters, handouts and evaluations forms.
In collaboration with the Chief of Probation, Deputy Chief of Probation and Deputy Chief of Intervention and Specialized Services, designs, implements and updates the annual Probation/Early Intervention and Diversion Center (EIDC) Training Plan including mandatory CORE curriculum schedule.
Obtains and maintains certification in Train the Trainer for CORE classes in EPICS, OYAS, and other best-practice curricula for best practices in community supervision of youth justice population.
Conducts and assists in new hire orientation of Probation staff, along with developing ongoing training support for employees. Provides on-site supervision/monitoring for Probation Officers and Intervention Specialists in the field in order to provide interactive feedback for ongoing training purposes.
Designs and develops training programs and manuals for Court employees. Completes all logistical arrangements for in-house and external training events. Assists in the assessment and determination of training needs utilizing appropriate training assessment methods and techniques.
Attends external trainings & workshops to obtain latest updates from Ohio Supreme Court Training and Ohio Court Education Coordinators’ Roundtable in order to inform the Court and identify further trainings needs to maintain best practices within the Court.
Identifies training needs based upon audit findings. Provides trainings for purpose of quality improvement, specific to needs of justice involved youth, adolescent development, trauma, and evidence-based interventions in youth justice.
Researches literature to present and prepare training activities and events. Coordinates educational resources and maintains electronic library of educational and training materials.
Maintains training log for new employees to ensure that all new employees have received the necessary training for their role at the Court. Communicates with Managers to provide feedback…
