Director of Student Support Systems

Employment Status:
Regular/Full-time

Salary: $58,202 - 76,3444 for 201 days

Job Objective: To promote a positive school climate and to support instructional staff and students through consultation and direct services related to student social/emotional/behavioral needs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Successful experience supporting the social, emotional and behavioral needs of students within the school setting.
  • Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) certification or coursework preferred.
  • Prior experience in assisting teams in data collection, analyzing behavioral concerns, and intervention planning within the school setting.
  • Satisfies the criminal background check.
  • Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
  • Exhibits effective time management and resourceful problem‑solving skills.
  • Possesses excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and proficiency with current technology; ability to confidentially communicate.
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate well across a variety of multi-cultural, multi-experience, multi-background audiences including students, staff, administration, parents and the community.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, work under time constraints and to be flexible in an environment of multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) and behavioral analysis.
  • Exhibits effective coaching, collaboration, and documentation skills.
Essential Functions
  • Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
  • Adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
  • Provides direct, short term behavioral consultation to staff to address specific behavioral concerns.
  • Provides job embedded professional learning to staff in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments, developing Behavior Intervention Plans and data collection.
  • Provides job embedded professional learning to staff in environmental and whole class strategies to promote positive classroom environments.
  • Provides resource materials for data collection and progress monitoring of behavior.
  • Provide professional learning to staff on Tier 1 classroom strategies to support the social, emotional and behavioral support of all students and targeted Tier 2 strategies.
  • Leads and supports the completion of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).
  • Provides short term direct support to students in crisis.
  • Provides flexible support to school avoidant students to assist them in re-integrating into the school setting, including working with students outside of the school setting.
  • Liaises to outside/community agency support for students (e.g., community mental health providers, CCBDD, PEP Connections, juvenile court, etc.).
  • Supports district PBIS and MTSS initiatives.
  • Develops supplemental materials/resources.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, planning/training sessions.
  • Implements strategies aligned to the Strategic Plan.
  • Apply research and data to improve the content, sequence and outcomes of social, emotional and behavioral intervention programming and write Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Maintain current and accurate documentation.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with staff, parents and students.
  • Assist with unexpected/urgent situations as needed.
  • Attend and present at meetings and in-services as required.
  • Attend professional growth seminars, workshops, etc. to keep current on relevant issues.
  • Cultivate relationships with all departments that promote a strong commitment to District goals
  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information (e.g., student test scores, family information, personnel documents).
  • Promote a positive school climate in support of academic excellence.
  • Promote the District's mission, philosophy and vision.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
