Job DescriptionThe mechanical project engineer will support a team in implementing piping and mechanical systems for large‑scale industrial construction projects. The role spans pre‑construction through final acceptance, and is directly responsible for project safety, quality, budget, schedule, job controls, vendor management, submittals, and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities- Manage project engineering and related personnel functions and activities, including planning, procurement, design review, project controls, and work assignments.
- Ensure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements, supporting the overall construction schedule.
- Prepare documents to obtain vendor quotes for materials, equipment, and other specialty items.
- Track material deliveries.
- Interface with departments, divisions, and internal staff on budgeting, staffing, employee discipline, training/development, scheduling, and other activities requiring discretion and judgment.
- Review engineering plans and vendor submittals.
- Monitor crew assignments to meet productivity goals.
- Conduct field walks and spot checks of work performed.
- Ensure compliance with county, state, and OSHA policies and regulations.
- Minimum 2+ years of similar construction project engineering experience.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and consistently apply safety laws, company policies, and standards.
- Apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
- Build trust and achieve results with clients and team members.
- Read and interpret drawings, work specifications, and scopes.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a high‑quality team.
