Job Description
Come be a part of a roadway/transportation design group that has a great mix of emerging professionals and senior design engineers and project managers. The Senior Roadway Engineer will support the Civil Team in designing and managing transportation projects, providing strong technical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Duties- Perform engineering design, analysis, and task management for transportation projects, including geometric studies, report writing, design, construction staging, and cost estimating.
- Develop construction plans, specifications, and safety plans, and perform complex design tasks in Bentley Open Roads Designer or Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Analyze data from site surveys, GIS, hydrologic and geotechnical studies, and produce visualizations, reports, and presentations.
- Maintain QA/QC standards and support quality control procedures.
- Assist in project scoping, proposal writing, and client meetings.
- Provide guidance and training to entry‑level engineers and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- 5–7 years of post‑education experience in engineering with civil design experience.
- Engineer in Training certification.
- CAD design skills in Open Roads Designer and/or Civil 3D.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, design/build practices, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations and technical writing.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Leadership and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with design software (ORD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Storm
CAD, Hydro
CAD, HEC‑RAS) and office automation. - Track record of health and safety compliance.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer registration in Ohio or ability to obtain within six months.
- Experience with corridor modeling and roadway, aviation, transit, or site design.
- Knowledge of ODOT and local agency design manuals.
- Experience managing design tasks or small‑to‑mid‑size projects.
- Existing relationships with public agency staff.
- Active participation in industry‑related professional organizations.
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
