Position: Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Center)

Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Center)

We're looking for an energetic Mechanical Designer to focus on our fast-moving Data Center market. Join us, and you’ll impact our success by delivering innovative plumbing design solutions for our Data Center clients. You will work alongside a team of engineers and designers performing field investigations, interfacing with clients & vendors, sizing and selecting equipment, and preparing construction design packages.

You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You’ll work with a multi‑discipline, highly interactive team to establish and meet the needs of our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Layout and design of HVAC systems for data center designs.
  • Development of design criteria for HVAC systems, including general comfort heating and cooling, accurate temperature or humidity control, unique pressurization requirements, and critical cooling system designs for data center applications.
  • Development of conceptual design and preliminary design documents, including flow diagrams and general arrangements.
  • Layout of ductwork systems based on a Process and Instrumentation Diagram (P&).
  • Development of final design documents including specification, piping layout, and final construction documents for systems such as chilled water, cooling water, etc.
  • Mentoring of less experienced staff.
Qualifications
  • At least 8 years’ experience in the design of HVAC systems for industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to the design of HVAC systems.
  • Adaptability to work within a fast‑paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate with the project team remotely.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Software experience in AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D.
  • Experience in the design of mechanical, plumbing, and utility systems.

The base salary range for this position is $ to $; the position is paid hourly based on hours worked. Pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job‑related skills, experience, and education.

Hybrid work policy allows employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices and remote locations.
