Test Engineer – Healthcare (Surgical)

Barco Healthcare is looking for a hands‑on Test Engineer to join our R&D team and support the development and industrialisation of next‑generation surgical products. In this role, you will work in an international, multidisciplinary R&D environment, playing a key part in ensuring product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout the product development lifecycle.
Your RoleAs a Test Engineer, you will support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects by planning, executing, and coordinating verification and validation activities. You will work closely with engineering, industrialisation, quality, and external partners to ensure our products meet international medical device standards and Barco’s high‑quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Analyse design inputs, project specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Define and execute test plans in collaboration with NPI project managers
- Perform verification and validation testing across different development stages
- Support and execute environmental testing (climatic, vibration), EMC testing, electrical safety testing
- Coordinate testing activities with external laboratories and notified bodies
- Conduct gap and conformity analysis against applicable international standards
- Support industrialisation activities, including zero‑series and pre‑series builds
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, documentation, and tools
- Collaborate effectively with local teams and Barco headquarters
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent experience
- Hands‑on experience in a laboratory or test environment
- Exposure to testing, validation, or certification activities
- Ability to work independently, organise work, and take initiative
- Strong communication skills and a structured, analytical mindset
- Fluent in Italian and English
- Experience in the medical device / healthcare industry
- Familiarity with EMC, environmental, and electrical safety testing
- Knowledge of medical device standards (e.g. IEC series)
- Background in testing laboratories, notified bodies, or other regulated industries
