Wadsworth Solutions is seeking a technically driven Building Automation Systems Engineer / Controls Specialist to support the execution, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of advanced building automation systems across commercial and institutional facilities.
This role is designed for an individual with a strong engineering and controls mindset — someone capable of taking ownership of projects, solving complex technical problems independently, and making sound decisions in real-world field conditions. The ideal candidate combines technical capability with practical execution and understands how controls interact with mechanical systems, electrical systems, networking, and facility operations.
Key Responsibilities1. Controls Programming & System Execution
- Program, configure, and commission building automation systems using Schneider Electric Eco Struxure Building Operation (EBO) and Niagara N4 platforms
- Develop control logic, graphics, alarming, trending, and system integrations
- Translate HVAC sequences of operation into reliable and efficient DDC programming
- Configure BACnet/IP devices, controllers, field networks, and system integrations
- Support system startup, checkout, and operational testing
- Take ownership of assigned controls projects from startup through completion
- Evaluate technical problems and make sound engineering decisions based on field conditions, customer requirements, and operational impact
- Coordinate with project managers, electricians, mechanical contractors, and customers to maintain project momentum
- Ensure systems are operating correctly and aligned with design intent
- Diagnose and resolve complex controls, networking, integration, and mechanical system issues
- Identify root causes across DDC systems, HVAC equipment, PLC logic, electrical controls, and communications networks
- Support recovery of underperforming or stalled systems
- Provide technical clarity in fast-moving or high-pressure situations
- Conduct point‑to‑point verification, controller checkout, and sequence testing
- Tune control loops and optimize system performance
- Verify field device operation, airflow logic, temperature control, and energy optimization strategies
- Review trends, alarms, and system performance data to identify operational inefficiencies
- Review mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation
- Support design reviews and field coordination during construction and retrofit projects
- Assist with controls architecture decisions and integration planning
- Provide technical support during sales discussions, customer meetings, and project turnover
- Schneider Electric Eco Struxure Building Operation (EBO)
- BACnet/IP, Modbus, and system integrations
- PLC programming or industrial controls experience
- HVAC controls, sequences of operation, and mechanical systems
- IP networking and controls communications
- Graphics development and front‑end system configuration
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or similar technical field preferred
- Engineering Technology degrees or equivalent technical experience will also be considered
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
- Ability to operate independently without constant oversight
- High level of ownership and accountability
- Strong communication skills with customers, contractors, and internal teams
- Ability to prioritize multiple technical issues and make practical decisions in the field
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments
- Detail‑oriented with strong documentation habits
- Mechanical rooms and operational facilities
- Field commissioning and troubleshooting
- Coordination meetings with contractors and customers
- Combination of office, remote, and onsite technical work
Occasional extended hours or after‑hours support may be required during commissioning, shutdowns, or critical project activities.
