Job Description
The Injection Molding Process Engineer will have a lead role in establishing molding conditions, integrating new projects into production and driving continuous improvement. They will ensure that the products run within quality standards and meet all production goals. Provides technical leadership, interacts with other departments to resolve problems that interfere with productivity, and holds a good understanding of manufacturing operations and processes.
Responsibilities- Establish process conditions through scientific molding for new products.
- Troubleshoot molding processes and material or equipment issues.
- Evaluate tooling for areas of concern/improvement for quality and efficiency and recommend improvements to optimize molding, setup, and overall manufacturing.
- Collect and analyze data on individual processes to identify and improve process capability.
- Document and maintain mold process sheets for accuracy.
- Support process techs through training in scientific molding practices.
- Leadership role in continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
- Use Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other techniques to analyze process data to determine capabilities as well as improvements.
- Program robots and periphery equipment.
- Associates in Engineering or Engineering Technology with focus in Plastics, Manufacturing or Mechanical;
Bachelor’s degree in engineering; or 10+ years of direct applicable experience in injection molding. - 5+ years of hands on experience in injection molding in addition to one of the aforementioned technical degrees.
- A working knowledge and experience with injection molding and ancillary equipment.
- A working knowledge of a wide range of thermoplastic materials and their properties.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- RJG Master Molder I/II or AIM certification.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekends as needed.
- Experience in mentoring and developing associate members of the molding process development team.
