Purpose of PositionTeam Wendy is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Testing Technician to support the engineering team in the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of helmet products. This role executes hands‑on technical work across development and sustainment activities, including coordinating and assembling product samples, building prototypes, supporting test execution and validation, performing process inspections, and assisting with prototype tooling development and installation. The position also supports quality assurance testing and validation of process changes to ensure product performance and manufacturing stability.
The Testing Technician reports to the Continuous Product Improvement Manager. Successful execution requires a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, test methods, and engineering fundamentals, combined with the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑project environment. This position requires strong ownership, disciplined execution, and the ability to shift priorities while maintaining output quality. High‑performing candidates demonstrate self‑direction, technical curiosity, and consistent contribution to cross‑functional team outcomes.
Purpose
- Execute product testing activities to validate performance, durability, and compliance against internal and external standards
- Support development testing, qualification testing, and QA verification activities across new and existing helmet products
- Perform environmental, mechanical, impact, and ballistic testing
- Prepare, assemble, and document test samples, including prototype builds and pre‑production units
- Set up, operate, and maintain testing equipment; ensure calibration status and proper usage
- Collect, record, and organize test data with high accuracy and traceability
- Analyze test results at a basic level and Escalate anomalies, failures, or trends to engineering
- Generate clear, structured test reports to support engineering decisions and program milestones
- Coordinate with engineering, QA, and production to prioritize and execute testing aligned to project timelines
- Build and modify prototypes, fixtures, and test setups to support development and validation needs
- Coordinate materials, components, and hardware required for builds and testing activities
- Maintain test labs, work spaces, and equipment in a controlled and organized state
- Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure safe execution of testing and build activities
- Identify opportunities to improve test methods, efficiency, repeatability, and data quality
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience executing blunt impact and shock attenuation testing (drop towers, guided impact systems, headforms)
- Familiarity with ballistic testing setups, sample preparation, and controlled range procedures
- Understanding of energy transfer, force‑time responses, and failure modes in protective systems
- Experience with high‑speed data acquisition, accelerometers, load cells, and instrumentation for impact events
- Working knowledge of test standards relevant to helmets and protective systems (NIJ, ACH, AR/PD, MIL‑STD impact protocols)
- Ability to interpret impact and ballistic test data, including peak acceleration, impulse, and penetration/backface deformation results
- Experience setting up and calibrating mechanical test systems, fixtures, and repeatable impact conditions
- Hands‑on experience with prototype fabrication and modification for impact and ballistic evaluation (composites, polymers, assemblies)

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Cleveland, OH is $25.00 to $32.00 hourly. The final salary offered will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
