We are seeking a full-time Roadway Engineer to join our team. This role will support a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects involving ODOT and Local-Let roadway design. The selected candidate will contribute to all phases of project development, including roadway geometry, maintenance of traffic, drainage systems, traffic control, stormwater management, and construction documentation.
The position will also involve cost estimating, assisting with funding applications, supporting project programming efforts, and participating in the bidding and construction coordination process.
- Develop ODOT and Local-Let roadway plans using Micro Station and AutoCAD.
- Prepare roadway geometric layouts, typical sections, drainage design, maintenance of traffic plans, traffic control plans, and post-construction stormwater BMP designs.
- Compile plan quantities and develop construction cost estimates using Excel or Estimator.
- Perform hydraulic and drainage calculations.
- Assist with preparation of funding applications and project programming packages, including scopes of work, field reviews, and coordination meetings.
- Support the bidding process by preparing bid documents, responding to contractor questions, and assisting with contractor coordination.
- Create exhibits and graphics for public involvement meetings and attend meetings as needed.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, including preliminary engineering documentation.
- Monitor project progress to help ensure work is completed within scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Recognize and communicate potential out-of-scope work items.
- Assist with proposal preparation, including responses to RFPs and development of fee estimates.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, agencies, contractors, and members of the public.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Ohio required.
- Five or more years of relevant roadway engineering experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of ODOT standards, procedures, and plan development processes.
- Proficiency with Micro Station and AutoCAD.
- Ability to work independently and manage assignments with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
