• Purpose-Driven Design:
  Prepare engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, pipelines, and pump stations with minimal supervision, translating complex challenges into effective solutions.
• Quality & Compliance:
  Review engineering designs and technical reports to ensure alignment with federal, state, and local regulations while upholding CDM Smith’s high standards for safety and quality.

  Support proposal development, engage with clients to understand project needs, and contribute technical insights through presentations, white papers, and industry publications.
• Mentorship & Leadership:
  Support the development of junior staff through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance.

Water / Wastewater Design Engineer

Ohio - Cleveland

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
• 5 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

• Demonstrated experience delivering engineering designs for municipal water and wastewater pipelines and treatment facilities.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements while developing practical, sustainable solutions.
• Strong collaborative mindset with a genuine interest in working closely with clients and project teams.
• Curiosity and initiative to advance technical excellence through innovation, research, and industry contributions.
