Formulation Chemist
Leading chemical and building material company is looking for a chemist or material scientist with a background in cementitious material formulation and characterization. Company offers excellent benefits with competitive pay.
DutiesResponsible for driving new product development, evaluating raw materials, and maintaining existing product formulations. Conducts laboratory research and testing to develop innovative concrete admixtures and enhance the performance of current products. Applies both quantitative and qualitative principles of chemistry, engineering, and materials science to formulate new solutions and optimize existing formulations. Participates in field trials to assess and validate product performance under real-world conditions.
Maintains accurate records of raw materials, formulations, and Environmental Health & Safety data within SAP. Provides cross-functional technical support to North American sales, marketing, purchasing, operations, as well as global R&D teams.
- Plan and execute test programs to support new product development initiatives
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify new materials and drive improvements to existing products
- Conduct and evaluate field trials to validate performance of new formulations
- Provide technical support to U.S. admixture plants, including analysis of out-of-spec materials, returned product investigations, quality control specification evaluations, and SAP formulation updates

Technical Qualifications- BS degree majoring Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or related; will consider non-degreed candidates with significant industry experience
- 5+ years of industry experience in formulation and testing of cementitious materials
- A basic understanding of cement/admixture interaction and concrete performance is necessary
- Experience using SAP or similar system for formulation management, design of experiments statistical analysis, and concrete admixture formulation are a plus
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
