Job Description
Senior HSE Manager in the Industrial Automation (IA) Smart Energy and Thermal Solutions HSE team. Responsible primarily for environmental matters with some safety obligations. Drives environmental excellence by implementing effective operating mechanisms ensuring regulatory compliance, managing environmental risk, and strengthening operating performance. Reports to the Senior HSE Director for Smart Energy and Thermal Solutions and is based in Charlotte, NC or Cleveland, OH.
Responsibilities- Develop and lead implementation of environmental programs and practices aligned with Honeywell Corporate HSE and IA HSE management systems.
- Set vision, goals, objectives, and targets for environmental performance and provide metrics that drive continuous improvement.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership for environmental issues, programs, and processes, including compliance with standards, policies, permits, and applicable local and national regulations.
- Review, interpret, and communicate new Honeywell Corporate and IA environmental procedures, legal requirements, and other obligations.
- Support the development of IA environmental standards and programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines for air quality, wastewater, stormwater, spill prevention, waste, drinking water, and container management.
- Lead or participate in investigations of significant environmental incidents and related root‑cause analyses.
- Support resolution of potential environmental non‑compliance issues, enforcement actions, claims, disputes, and litigation related to HSE matters.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in environmental excellence or health, safety, and environment (HSE) roles.
- Advanced degree in engineering or HSE preferred; professional certifications are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and global environmental laws and regulations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to engage senior leaders across business functions.
- Experience leading and managing environmental excellence programs.
- Critical thinker who challenges assumptions, seeks new ideas, and has a proven track record of leading teams to successful project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to improve environmental performance or lead culture change.
