Fire Protection Engineer

AECOM is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to be based in Cleveland, Ohio. This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Builds analytical and design skills while assisting with the planning, design, and analysis of fire protection and life safety systems for a variety of facility types.
  • Supports the development of fire alarm, fire sprinkler, clean agent suppression, and special hazard fire protection system designs under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Prepares fire protection engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Utilizes AutoCAD and/or Revit to support the development of fire protection system layouts and coordination drawings.
  • Participates in field surveys, system assessments, testing, inspections, and construction site visits under the supervision of experienced engineering staff.
  • Coordinates with architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, structural engineers, and other disciplines during design and construction activities.
  • Performs assigned work in accordance with established project budgets and schedules under supervision.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or experience.
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards and International Building and Fire Codes.
  • Experience in the design of fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems.
