Canadian Standards Association ("CSA Group"), a standards development and product certification organization, seeks an experienced Product Safety Engineer, Fueled Appliances in our Cleveland, OH office. The role reports directly to the Product Group Managers and involves managing the safety certification of new and leading‑edge products, systems, and technologies in accordance with CSA Group and other recognized Standards Development Organizations.
Responsibilities- Independently manage multiple certification projects concurrently, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety requirements and achieving completion within specified time frames and cost deadlines.
- Evaluate products against national and international standards and precedent decisions.
- Review and provide technical competency assessments of others’ work.
- Accurately perform evaluation and review of complex, unique, or unusual product types.
- Consistently manage multiple projects while maintaining on‑time and on‑budget performance.
- Review test data and reports, and authorize the application of Certification Marks.
- Prepare and sign Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance.
- Conduct construction evaluation, ensuring unit compliance with the construction section of the standard; identify rationale for compliance or non‑compliance.
- Collaborate with Lab Technician to create a work order, determine necessary tests, order of tests, and number of samples.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree/diploma in Engineering Technology or related technical field.
- 4 or more years of job‑related experience for an Electrical Engineering degree holder; 6 or more years for an Engineering Technology/technical field degree.
- Thorough knowledge of Standards and testing procedures.
- Experience with CSA and ANSI Standards such as ANSI Z21.20, Z21.21:23, Z21.78; CSA 22.2, 6.5:23, 6.2, E60730‑1; IEC 60730‑2‑5.
- Knowledge of CSA certification options, programs, and services applicable to a variety of equipment.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills; customer service orientation; strong problem‑solving ability; detail oriented.
- Strong organizational, time and project management skills to complete job tasks independently and efficiently.
- Ability to work unsupervised in a team‑based environment.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and developing engineering drawings.
- Technical report writing experience.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
- Use of various lab equipment, instruments, and tools.
- Additional certifications or advanced training related to product safety or certification.
- Experience with advanced automotive or electrical safety standards.
