Application Sales Engineer

Our client, a leader in the supply of specialty chemicals and gases to the petrochemical industry, is looking to hire an Application Sales Engineer to cover the continental United States. With a focus on safety, functionality, and reliability, both internally and externally, this position will be focused on providing customers with support and development of complete process solutions, including gases, technology, and equipment.

This role is based out of the Cleveland, OH area but experienced ASE's may live most anywhere that is near a large airport.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Interact with customers and end users to assure understanding of equipment capabilities, safe use, and installation.
• Provides quotations of equipment systems related to Specialty Gas and Process Chemicals Equipment solutions
• Oversee the design and fabrication of application equipment for the Specialty Gas & Process Chemicals Equipment sector of the market.
• Insures accuracy of design calculations, drawings, specifications, and bills of materials of applications equipment solutions.
• Resolves design issues with applications engineering and contractors.
• Qualifies and evaluates qualifications of consultants, vendors, and contractors.
• Assists as needed in the start-up of process systems and plants.
• Coordinates (and conducts as needed) equipment functional testing to ensure system operations and functionality.
• Provides assistance for field start of application equipment.
• Reports project performance in terms of costs and delivery.
• Provides application equipment project management leadership.
• Defines scope of project and clarify individual roles of project team members.
• Selects and directs outside vendors, contractors, and consultants.
• Prepares and issues project specifications, evaluate bids, and negotiates final terms and conditions.
• Oversee the ordering of system components, tracking of orders, and expediting orders.
• Ensures assigned projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Monitors and drives overall project schedule and delivery.
• Develops overall project schedules, estimates, and quotes based on input from applications engineering, contractors, and vendors.

Qualifications:

• BSChe or BSME preferred
• 2-4 years of sales engineering/capital equipment engineering experience
• Experience designing skid-mounted process equipment, and high pressure gas systems
• Experience with process chemicals (e.g. hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, ammonia) a plus
• Other qualifications, which are desirable, include a proficiency in working with Auto CAD, ChemCAD simulation software, PLC/HMl programming experience.
• Capable of travelling up to approximately 40% (including overnight as required).
• Capable of working weekends and/or holiday as needed to meet project schedules, equipment commissioning, and follow-up customer support.
• Well-versed in instrumentation and controls, have a firm understanding of fluid dynamics for compressible fluids.
• Familiar with applicable standard design and safety codes for equipment produced for metals and chemical industrial market sectors, such as CGA, ASME, and NFPA and codes and standards.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
