The C.W. Courtney Company is a Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm located in Mayfield Village, Ohio, providing high quality services to clients in Northeast Ohio since 1903. We are currently recruiting for the following positions:
Civil Designer/DrafterWe have an immediate opening for an experienced Civil Designer/Drafter to support our Survey and Civil Design staff.
- Preparation of base maps from field survey data for a variety of survey and civil projects
- Preparation of plans and specifications for private and municipal projects
- Civil design work under the supervision of a Registered Professional Engineer
- Collaboration with Project Managers and project stakeholders
- Adherence to, and assistance in the development and improvement of company CADD Standards
- Utility research and coordination
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive, directly related work experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D required. Bluebeam and MS Office experience preferred
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Drafting and Design Technology preferred but will consider candidates with commensurate work experience

We are currently looking for seasonal help to monitor upcoming construction projects in various locations. Experience with concrete/asphalt construction and/or underground utility installation preferred. Prior inspection experience and ability to read blueprints is a plus, and this is an excellent opportunity for former construction or utility company employees.
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand / walk for extended periods on and over uneven ground
- Ability to kneel, bend and lift / carry up to 25 lbs
We have an immediate full‑time opening for an experienced Chief Surveyor/Survey Manager to lead our Survey Department in our Cleveland, Ohio area office.
- Prioritize and schedule field survey operations; assign field work
- Provide client coordination of work requests and maintain communication with clients during work activities
- Monitor progress and completion schedules for work assignments
- Prepare budgets, fee quotations and proposals for survey projects
- Review plans and prepare stakeout points and calculations for use by field personnel
- Organize, coordinate, and prepare field work for use by office personnel
- Oversee and/or perform Boundary Surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys and the preparation of Record Plats and Easements
- Assist in the development of and enforce company‑wide standards for field policies and procedures
- Supervise the maintenance of all survey‑related equipment and ensure that all equipment is in working order
- Attend project meetings in‑house and with clients as needed
- 5+ years of progressive, directly related work experience
- Prior field experience required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software, Carlson Survey, and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to multitask and delegate assignments to support personnel
- Registered Surveyor in the state of Ohio preferred but will consider non‑registered candidates with commensurate experience
- Clean driving record and valid Ohio driver’s license
