Controls Engineer

A growing manufacturer of custom industrial equipment is seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, and commissioning of highly engineered automation systems.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, one-off equipment used in manufacturing environments across a global customer base. Engineers here are heavily involved from initial programming through installation, startup, and ongoing system support.

• Program and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
• Support development and commissioning of custom automation equipment
• Work closely with engineering teams to bring new machines from concept through startup
• Travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Provide remote support for equipment in the field
• Debug electrical and controls issues using schematics and system knowledge
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams on system integration
• This role includes roughly 10-20% travel for system commissioning and support (may vary by project)

• 3–8+ years of experience in controls / automation engineering
• Hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens)
• Background in custom equipment, system integration, or machine building environments
• Experience supporting or commissioning equipment in the field
• Strong troubleshooting ability using electrical schematics
• Comfortable working in a hands‑on, project-driven environment

• HMI or basic SCADA exposure
• Experience with vision systems or advanced automation
• Exposure to global customer support or travel
