Job SummarySenior Staff Geotechnical Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA or Cleveland, OH will prepare technical reports, specifications and plans, design foundations, retaining walls, and oversee geotechnical aspects of construction on premier land development projects.
Job Responsibilities- Design earth structures, deep foundations, excavations and underpinning systems.
- Assist the project manager with field‑work coordination and project‑management support.
- Scope and oversee geotechnical investigations and construction projects, and perform inspections where needed.
- Coordinate investigations and assist in geotechnical report writing.
- Prepare standard logs and field forms, including drilling and test pit logs, daily field reports, and chain‑of‑custody logs.
- Perform field work as required.
- Complete other duties as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- At least 3 years of geotechnical investigation and construction inspection experience.
- FE/EIT certification preferred.
- Experience with investigation, field coordination, geotechnical report and specification writing.
- Field experience in earthwork, pile construction, load testing, footings, subgrade, backfill inspection, ground improvements, retaining wall design, and excavation support system design and inspection.
- Knowledge of gINT, Slide/SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, LPILE, GRLWEAP, MSEW, SHAKE beneficial.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, multitasking, and judgment skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Prepared to perform field work and travel with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
