Overview

Manages the planning and design, including during the construction phase, of wastewater or stormwater capital improvement projects to meet the Sewer District’s needs in a timely manner and within budget. Responsible for managing multiple, complex projects and leading project teams across the organization. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and manages project scopes by evaluating data, procedures, processes, and alternatives to improve environmental impact and costs; recommends approaches that further the District’s goals.
  • Plans, coordinates, and manages the planning and design of capital improvement projects, including cross-functional teams and outside consultants; ensures work aligns with project plans, timeline, and budget. Sets short-term objectives, budgets, and schedules.
  • Manages internal design projects and procurement of outside professional consultants, including administration of Requests for Proposals (RFPs); reviews and scores consultant proposals and facilitates scope negotiations.
  • Analyzes data and processes to maintain project integrity, timelines, and quality assurance; uses problem analysis to evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions; identifies potential new projects.
  • Researches, analyzes, and evaluates possible solutions; presents research and recommendations to the project team for agreement.
  • Maintains public relations and engages stakeholders in district activities aligned with community environmental goals.
  • Conducts status meetings and project group meetings; prepares agendas for meetings.
  • Mentors and provides guidance to team members.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as required.
Project Manager III

Job Summary

Manages the planning and design, including during the construction phase, of internally and externally led wastewater or stormwater capital improvement projects to meet the District’s needs in a timely manner and within budget. Provides lead technical support throughout all project phases and oversees multiple, complex projects.

Qualifications Education

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or a closely related field.

Experience
  • Seven (7) years of experience in a project management role; four (4) years using project management tools for small to medium projects.
  • Previous experience in wastewater and/or stormwater industry.
Licensure and Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license with driving record acceptable to the District.
  • Current State of Ohio Professional Engineer’s license preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and handle emergencies.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective planning, coordination, relationship-building, and workload prioritization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong data management, record-keeping, and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to analyze, communicate, make decisions, and perform tasks; capable of lifting or handling tasks as needed; able to work in varied environmental conditions and manage noise exposure as appropriate.

Pay Range: USD, commensurate with experience.
