Bridge Project Engineer
An engineering firm in Cleveland, Ohio area to recruit a talented Civil / Structural Bridge Project Engineer. In this role, you will perform structural design and inspections for bridge improvement projects across Ohio, with a primary focus on Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and municipal transportation initiatives. You will take ownership of technical deliverables, prepare construction plans, and mentor junior design engineers and technicians in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop preliminary and detailed design plans, structural calculations, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates for diverse Ohio bridge projects.
- Apply critical thinking to select, adapt, and execute established engineering methods aligning with ODOT and local transportation standards.
- Utilize CAD and structural design tools to produce accurate design drawings, geometric layouts, and quantity calculations.
- Lead technical aspects of small- to medium-sized structural bridge and transportation projects.
- Perform periodic site observations, conduct field inspections, and answer Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction
- Maintain clear communication with clients, project stakeholders, and subconsultants regarding active project deliverables.
- Direct and mentor Design Engineers and CAD Technicians assigned to project teams, conducting quality assurance reviews on work products.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Ohio required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of structural bridge design experience working under a licensed Professional Engineer.
- Hands-on experience with Micro Station, Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Technical Software:
Familiarity with industry-standard structural analysis and bridge design software (e.g., LEAP Bridge, AASHTOWare, STAAD.Pro). - Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical problem-solving abilities, and strong organizational skills.
