A well-established manufacturer of precision metal components is seeking a Forge Tooling Design Engineer to join its engineering team. This role will focus on forging tooling and die design for a high-volume manufacturing environment, while supporting new product development, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
IMPORTANT:
Direct forging die/tooling design experience is required for this position. Candidates without hands-on forge/forging tooling experience will not be considered.
- Design forging dies, tooling, and manufactured products for production
- Perform FEA material flow simulations and die stress analysis
- Utilize Solid Works and engineering simulation software to develop tooling and product designs
- Improve existing forging tooling and troubleshoot manufacturing issues
- Support manufacturing process design and continuous improvement initiatives
- Analyze existing products and recommend design improvements
- Manage multiple engineering projects and priorities simultaneously
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing and quality teams to support production
- Develop new products from customer concepts through production launch
- Support additional engineering projects as needed
Job Requirements
- 3–4+ years of design experience in forging, tooling, dies, or metals manufacturing required
- Experience in forging/forge manufacturing is strongly preferred
- Experience with cold forming, extrusion, metal stamping, casting, injection molding, or similar precision manufacturing is also valuable
- Proficiency with Solid Works and 3D modeling
- Experience with FEA and/or engineering simulation software
- Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
- Knowledge of material selection and heat treatment preferred
- Basic understanding of ANSI Y14.5 / GD&T drafting standards preferred
- Cost estimating experience is a plus
