Job Title:

Electronics Technician - PCB Prototyping and Testing

Job Description

This role focuses on building, assembling, and testing new electronic products and printed circuit boards (PCBs) in a lab environment. You will work from PCB blueprints and schematics to create prototypes, prepare and test components, and ensure reliable performance through detailed electronic testing. The position offers a supportive team culture, a balanced schedule with every other Friday off, and the opportunity to work hands-on with advanced electronics testing equipment.

Responsibilities

+ Build and assemble new electronic products and PCB prototypes based on PCB blueprints and schematics.

+ Set up PCB prototypes and electronic assemblies for performance testing and validation.

+ Prepare, install, and test electronic components to ensure they meet design and performance specifications.

+ Incorporate and route wire harnesses into electronic assemblies and PCB-based systems.

+ Perform soldering on PCBs, including work with surface-mount technology (SMT) components, to create reliable connections.

+ Conduct PCB testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.

+ Use electronic testing methods to diagnose issues, verify functionality, and document test results accurately.

+ Support continuous improvement of prototypes by identifying defects, suggesting corrective actions, and assisting with rework.

+ Follow lab procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards while handling electronic components and equipment.

+ Collaborate with engineers and team members to interpret schematics, understand design intent, and refine prototype performance.

Essential Skills

+ Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

+ Hands-on experience working with electronics and PCB assemblies.

+ Ability to use electronic testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.

+ Proficiency in PCB testing, including functional and performance verification.

+

Experience with surface-mount technology (SMT) and related PCB assembly practices.

+ Ability to perform PCB soldering with attention to quality and reliability.

+ Experience working with wire harnesses, including integration into electronic assemblies.

+ Ability to read and interpret PCB blueprints and schematics.

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures and lab protocols.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in a lab-based electronics environment.

+ Familiarity with component preparation, including identification, handling, and testing of electronic components.

+ Comfort working with both through-hole and SMT components.

+ Ability to troubleshoot basic electronic issues and support rework of prototypes.

+ Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers and team members.

+ Organizational skills to manage multiple prototypes, tests, and documentation simultaneously.

Work Environment

This role is based in a lab setting with a mix of sitting and standing for extended periods while working on electronic assemblies and test setups. You will be part of a smaller team of approximately 50 people, fostering a close-knit and collaborative culture. The schedule follows a 9/80 structure, providing every other Friday off, which supports work-life balance. The environment involves regular use of electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and other lab tools, with an emphasis on safety, precision, and teamwork.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleburg Heights, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
