The Gear Design Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and development of precision gear systems used in mechanical and power transmission applications. This role involves working collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative, efficient, and reliable gear solutions that meet customer and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop gears, gearboxes, and related mechanical systems using CAD and simulation tools.
  • Perform detailed calculations for gear geometry, strength, and performance (AGMA, ISO, DIN standards).
  • Conduct tolerance analyses and ensure manufacturability of gear components.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, materials, and quality teams to optimize production methods and ensure design intent.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for gear-related performance or quality issues.
  • Support prototype build, testing, and validation of new designs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, drawings, and engineering change records.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field;
    Master’s preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in gear design, power transmission, or mechanical systems engineering.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Solid Works, CATIA, or similar) and gear design tools (KISSsoft, MASTA, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of material properties, heat treatment, and manufacturing processes for gears.
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) and fatigue life prediction.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with automotive, aerospace, or industrial drive systems.
  • Knowledge of NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) analysis.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001 or AS9100 environments.
