DescriptionThe CWRU Community Pantry Shift Supervisor is a student leadership position within the Dean of Students Office. This role supports the daily operations of the CWRU Community Pantry by overseeing pantry operations during assigned shifts, providing leadership to student employees, ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors, and helping maintain an organized, safe, and efficient pantry.
The Shift Supervisor serves as a role model for student employees and helps ensure exceptional customer service while maintaining the pantry's standards for organization, food safety, and professionalism.
The CWRU Community Pantry provides free food, hygiene products, and household essentials to all students, faculty, staff, and community members. As part of the Dean of Students Office, the pantry contributes to a campus-wide community of care by reducing barriers to student success and promoting basic needs support.
Responsibilities- Direct and assist during stocking of shelves
- Unload boxes after a pick-up or delivery and guide organization
- Help with food pick-ups when needed
- Provide positive customer service to everyone who visits
- Assist with social media development
- Promote awareness of food insecurity on campus
- Participate in and contribute to team meetings
- Lead student workers in keeping the pantry clean and organized
- Supervise Pantry Trak check-ins and maintain the pantry's line
- Table at events to advertise the CWRU Community Pantry and the Dean of Students Office
- Complete temperature logs each shift
- Inspect food for quality assurance
- Complete inventory sheet and check for expiration dates
- Maintain privacy of all who use the pantry
- Check that after shift logs are completed by all student workers
- Oversee campus plate use for inventory tracking
- Day and evening shifts available
- Shifts are 6 hours per week
- Attend all assigned tabling/marketing events
- Come to work with a positive attitude
- Notify the supervisor when a scheduled shift cannot be covered
- Complete all tasks assigned in a timely manner
- Arrive on time for scheduled shifts
- Treat everyone with respect and be polite to all

$15.40hr (Federal Work-Study Students only)
Qualifications- Minimum commitment for 1 year
- Working knowledge of Google Sheets
- Working knowledge of social media and platforms to create flyers and other media
- Creative and independent thinking
- Organizational capabilities
- Reliable and dependable
- Team player and leadership ability
- Ability to work with diverse populations with kindness and empathy
- Strong written and oral communication
- High level of customer service
- Ability to lift 20 pounds or more
- A passion for combating food insecurity
- Must be enrolled as a student at least half-time
