Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead all aspects of federal tax compliance, strategy, and reporting. This hybrid role based in Cleveland, OH, requires strong federal tax technical expertise, along with the ability to oversee tax planning, compliance, audit support, and process improvements, and experience collaborating with executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all federal tax compliance, filings, reporting, and related documentation
• Lead tax planning initiatives, modeling, and research to advise executive leadership
• Manage and review quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provisions
• Partner with Finance, Legal, and external advisors on tax strategies and complex issues
• Oversee audits, inquiries, and correspondence with federal tax authorities
• Identify process enhancements for tax reporting accuracy and efficiency
• Stay current on federal tax law changes to guide long‑term tax strategy
• Lead and mentor a high‑performing tax team

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance
• CPA required
• Extensive federal tax experience with strong technical depth
• Public accounting experience preferred (Big Four or mid‑tier firm experience ideal)
• 10+ years of progressive corporate tax or public accounting experience
• Prior leadership experience managing teams and advising senior leadership
• Strong knowledge of ASC 740, tax research, and compliance frameworks
