The Metro Health System, a well-respected public health system based in Cleveland, OH, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This role offers a unique opportunity to join a newly established executive team and help build the future of the organization at a transformative moment.
PositionAs a key member of the CEO Council, the Chief Financial Officer assumes a strategic role in the overall management of The Metro Health System (MHS). The CIO develops and executes finance strategy in support of MHS overall business plan and strategic direction. Provides vision, innovative leadership and strategic, operational, and financial oversight for all functions related to financial management, budgeting, accounting, reimbursement, etc.
Establishes and implements policies and procedures related to accounting practices. Oversees Accounting and Financial Reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Enterprise Analytics, Revenue Cycle, and Treasury. Participates with the President and other senior leaders in institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution. Serves as ambassador for the Metro Health System and builds positive community relationships. Advances the organization’s position with Ohio Hospital Association, Ohio Department of Medicaid, and other constituents, as well as drives broader awareness and support for Metro Health.

- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or equivalent required. Master’s in finance, accounting, business administration or equivalent is preferred. CPA Certification is preferred.
- Ten years of progressive experience in accounting or finance to include managerial accounting, healthcare financial management, medical group practice management, decision support systems, business planning, and mathematical analysis of business problems.
- Seven years of supervisory experience in an accounting/financial capacity.
- Must be able to develop financial and other operational systems to accurately report and control System financial activities.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop recommendations and solutions.
- Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional self-development.
- Demonstrated evidence of a team-based leadership approach with collaborative decision making.
- Results oriented individual.
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, Board of Trustees, and staff.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, mentoring, customer service and excellent interpersonal skills required along with experience in working in a team and with multi-disciplinary groups.
- Experience in a safety-net academic medical center with a matrix organizational structure is preferred.
