Job Duties

Monitors, analyzes, and assesses risks at smaller or less complex financial institutions in the supervisory portfolio or risks of lesser prominence at the LCFIs to minimize risk to the FDIC's Deposit Insurance Fund. The incumbent will lead segments of monitoring and risk assessment efforts, supporting resolution strategies through analysis of institution-prepared contingency and resolution plans.

Evaluates financial institution applications to include: charter conversions, ownership/control changes, mergers/acquisitions, new products, technologies, or services, or reviewing compensation packages; recommends approval, conditional approval, or denial via a written Summary of Investigation.

Analyzes and ensures the appropriateness of assigned depository institution ratings under the Uniform Financial Institution Rating System, by independently identifying, compiling and organizing relevant data to analyze and draw sound conclusions related to work assignments. Escalates revised ratings and supporting analyses to the Division's senior leadership.

Performs, and will lead at smaller, less complex financial institutions, continuous onsite monitoring efforts for the rate and circumstances in which an institution's financial condition could deteriorate and analyzes actions relative to the activation of contingency funding plans as well as recovery and resolution plans.

Stays abreast of current developments in the economy, the financial sector, and the banking industry to improve effectiveness in supporting recommended supervisory strategies.

Produces well-supported written analyses covering a range of topics including the institution's financial condition, risk management capabilities, and ratings.
